Donations benifit South Buffalo CREW!

5th ANNUAL BICYCLE TOUR of South Buffalo

The South Buffalo Fresh Air Club has scheduled its 5th annual Bicycling Tour of South Buffalo for Saturday, July 25th starting at 8:00 A.M. sharp, rain or shine, and the public is invited.

The leisurely-paced tour titled “Remembering St. Teresa’s School” will start and end at the parking lot behind St. Teresa’s Church. A tour of the school will follow at about 10:00 A.M.

The event is free although donations will be accepted for South Buffalo Crew, one of the groups dedicated to the betterment of South Buffalo.

As has been reported, St. Teresa’s school is in the process of being sold to developers who are planning to convert the property into condominiums. So according to South Buffalo Fresh Air Club secretary Neil Farrell, this may be one of the last chances for the community to see the school as her alumni and friends remember it. Farrell noted, “There is a lot of history and memories here so I hope that all will be able to join us. If you can’t make the bike ride you’re still invited to join us at 10:00 at the school for the tour and social.”

In addition to the tour of St. Teresa’s School, riders will see the childhood homes of Legendary South Buffalonians, Warren “Lefty” Spahn, Judge Jack Curtin, John “Circ” Kane, Monsignor William Stanton, Joey Keane and Sister Mary Annunciata.

Post-Tour Get-Together
The tour will start and end at St. Teresa’s school and participants are encouraged to bring a treat to share at the informal post-tour get together which shouldbegin around 10:00 A.M.. At the gathering folks will get a chance to reminisce about their days at the beloved school.

In accordance with South Buffalo Fresh Air Club rules, riders are advised to wear appropriate clothing and those donning the uniforms favored by serious bicyclists will be frowned upon.
